As Glastonbury Festival takes a fallow year in 2026, audiences are invited to relive the music, madness, mud and magic of the world’s most famous festival at a special anniversary screening of Glastonbury, with acclaimed director Julien Temple appearing in person.
Marking 20 years since the film’s original release, this documentary captured the history, spirit and unique atmosphere of Glastonbury Festival through archive footage spanning 30 years, along with showing the festival’s evolution from a small gathering into a globally renowned cultural phenomenon.
Julien Temple said,
“I don’t know if they still do, but people used to watch the documentary before they went to the festival to get in the groove. I hope it still has that effect.”
The film features unforgettable performances and appearances from some of the biggest names in music, including David Bowie, Radiohead, Morrissey, Coldplay and many more. Combining iconic live performances with candid backstage moments and historical footage.
Adding to the occasion, Julien Temple will join the screening in person, offering audiences a rare opportunity to hear first-hand about the making of the film, the stories behind the archive footage, and his experiences documenting one of Britain’s most iconic cultural events.
Whether you’re a lifelong festival-goer, a music lover, or simply curious about the phenomenon that is Glastonbury, this special anniversary event offers a chance to experience the festival’s history on the big screen.
