Bridgwater Town Council is taking steps to enhance waste and recycling facilities across the town with the installation of new dual waste bins.
These bins, designed to support both general waste and recycling, will help reduce litter and encourage responsible waste disposal in public spaces.
The first phase of the rollout will see new bins installed King Square, Blake Gardens, and Northgate Yard. Future installations will extend to key locations including the High Street, Fore Street, St Mary’s Street, Broadway, and East Quay.
The new bins are designated for plastic bottles, cans, paper, and card. It’s crucial for the public to use the compartments as labelled to avoid contamination, which could result in recyclable materials being incinerated instead of reused.
These bins also accept dog waste alongside non-recyclable litter, enhancing the town’s dog waste collection service.
Councillor Kathy Pearce said,
“We are committed to improving waste management across Bridgwater. These new bins will make it easier for residents and visitors to dispose of their waste responsibly while helping to keep our town cleaner and greener.”
Residents are encouraged to use the new bins correctly to maximise recycling efforts and reduce landfill waste
