Bridgwater Town Council is deeply saddened to report a series of vandalism incidents that have occurred in our local parks.
Over the past week, fires were deliberately started in Northgate Yard, Victoria Park, and Gloucester Road play areas, causing damage to play equipment and safety surfaces. The incidents were discovered by Town Council staff.
“Our Open Spaces team have assessed the damage and will undertake necessary repairs and replacements,” said a Scott Mason, Director of Amenities at Bridgwater Town Council. “However, the actions of a few individuals have once again ruined it for everyone. Vandalism not only damages our facilities but also diverts valuable resources that could be used to enhance our community.”
Councillor Tim Mander, Chair of the Amenities Committee, added,
“We are appalled by these senseless acts of vandalism. Our Open Spaces team works tirelessly to maintain and improve these areas, ensuring they are clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. We will do everything in our power to restore these areas and support our team in their ongoing efforts.”
The Council urges residents to report any suspicious activities to Avon and Somerset Police by visiting www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/report/anti-social-behaviour
