Bridgwater Town Council is pleased to announce the latest round of grant funding to support a wide range of community projects across the town.
At a meeting held on 17 June, councillors carefully considered 24 applications from local organisations, with requests totalling more than £50,000. This strong level of demand highlights the importance of this funding and the significant difference it can make to community groups and residents across Bridgwater.
Following detailed discussion, councillors agreed to award grants to 10 organisations, with just under £11,000 distributed in this round. The successful projects reflect a diverse mix of activity, including wellbeing and mental health support, youth provision, cultural and creative initiatives, sport and projects that bring people together and strengthen local connections.
Many of the awards will also help organisations leverage additional funding from other sources, increasing the overall impact of the support.
While it was not possible to fund every application, the Council welcomed the high quality and variety of proposals submitted, all focused on making a positive difference for people in Bridgwater.
Funding awarded in this round includes:
- £1,200 for a digital inclusion project supporting adults with learning disabilities and neurodivergent adults, helping them build skills while refurbishing equipment for people experiencing isolation

Councillor Liz Leavy who is chair of the Grants sub-committee said,
“The level of interest in this round of funding shows just how vital these grants are to local organisations and the communities they support. Councillors gave careful and thoughtful consideration to every application, and while we could not fund them all, we are proud to support a wide range of projects that will have a real and lasting impact across Bridgwater.”
The Town Council’s grant programme is designed to support voluntary and community groups in delivering projects that align with local priorities and respond to community needs. Successful organisations will begin delivering their projects over the coming months, helping to strengthen community connections and improve quality of life across the town.
