Following a highly successful season of outdoor yoga across Somerset last year, a new community-focused initiative, Yoga in the Park, is set to launch this May!
After a wonderful season of Park Yoga in Taunton and Beach Yoga sessions in Minehead, Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP) is delighted to bring the initiative to Bridgwater in partnership with Bridgwater Town Council.
The Bridgwater sessions will take place every Wednesday evening from 27th May 2026 (through to September), 6:30–7:30pm, in Blake Gardens. These free, drop-in sessions require no booking, making them open to all. Participants are encouraged to simply turn up, enjoy the fresh air, and take part at their own pace. Participants should bring their own mat or towel and water.
Sessions will be led by Hugh Grant, a well-known Health and Lifestyle Coach in Bridgwater, who will guide participants through energising and restorative practices. Instructors will also be available before and after each session to connect with attendees and provide any necessary support.
This initiative is part of a wider programme delivering Yoga in the Park across multiple Somerset locations, including Burnham-on-Sea and Williton.
The programme is rooted in a broader, place-based approach to improving health and wellbeing across Somerset. With nearly half of the population living in rural areas, and a growing proportion aged 65 and over, initiatives like Yoga in the Park aim to reduce barriers to physical activity, strengthen community connections, and support long-term health outcomes.
These sessions are part of the Coastal Place Partnership funded by Sport England and delivered in partnership with Bridgwater Town Council.
