Bristol-based artist Tom Sledmore has been selected as the lead artist for the Eastover Mural Project.
Tom was chosen by a community panel of Bridgwater residents, ensuring the project reflects the town’s diverse voices and creative spirit.
Tom is widely known for his distinctive mural style that blends realism, fine art, and abstract expressionism—often evoking nostalgia, humour, and connection. His murals are celebrated for their ability to surprise and engage audiences in new and meaningful ways.
The Eastover Mural Project is a unique collaboration, made possible through funding from the Bridgwater Town Deal, Somerset Association of Local Councils (SALC) and Seed (funded by Creative People and Places – Arts Council England) who are the lead producers on the project.
As part of this exciting initiative, local residents are invited to take part in a series of free creative workshops with Tom and fellow artist Auberi. These hands-on sessions offer a unique opportunity to contribute ideas, explore mural-making techniques, and help co-create a public artwork that celebrates Bridgwater’s rich community, culture, and local businesses.
