Bridgwater Fair and West Street Market will return from Wednesday 30 September until Saturday 3 October, bringing four days of fairground rides, market trading and long-standing traditions to the town.
The West Street Market will once again line West Street throughout the event, while the Bridgwater Fair will be located on St Matthew’s Field.
The traditional one-day Horse Fair and Market will also take place at the top of St Matthew’s Field on Wednesday 30 September, continuing one of Bridgwater’s longest-standing annual traditions.
The Showmen’s Guild who organise and manage the fair, have invited the Mayor of Bridgwater, Councillor Leigh Redman, to officially open the fair at 11.00am on Wednesday 30 September.
Councillor Redman will also judge the Best West Street Stall Competition from 11.00am on Thursday 1 October.
The remaining opening and closing times for the Fair are 11.00am to 11.00pm Wednesday; 1.00pm to 11.00pm on Thursday; 1.00pm to 11.30pm on Friday and 11.00am to 11.00pm on Saturday.
In addition to organising the West Street Market and Horse Fair Market, Bridgwater Town Council funds public conveniences, first aid provision, overnight security and waste facilities for traders and visitors.
Temporary toilets are provided adjacent to Westfield House; behind the One-Stop shop in West Street and on St Matthews Field near the Horse and Jockey Public House.
First Aid is provided by Western Medical who can be found behind Westfield Church.
Bridgwater Town Council will have a small team of staff on duty as marshals during the West Street and Fairfield Markets, with our cleansing staff cleaning and sweeping up after the fair and markets are over.
West Street and adjacent roads will be closed from 9.00am on Tuesday 29 September and will re-open from 10.00am on Sunday, 4 October. Diversion routes will be signposted.
Limited parking will be available from Thursday until Saturday with the Rotary Club of Bridgwater in St Matthews Field. Other parking is available in town centre pay and display car parks.
There will be some parking restrictions in residential streets adjacent to Fairfield and lower Durleigh Road, we ask that all visitors to the event are considerate of local residents and do not block drives or other vehicles in – we strongly advise using a car park.
