Bridgwater’s young heroes are set to take centre stage this festive season as nominations open for Light Up Bridgwater, a Bridgwater Town Team initiative celebrating inspiring young people whose kindness and positivity have made a difference to others.
As part of this year’s Snowflakes & Shopping celebrations, organisers are inviting residents to nominate a young person who has gone above and beyond, whether through volunteering, supporting friends or family, or simply spreading joy in their community.
The winning nominee will have the honour of joining the Mayor of Bridgwater to switch on the town’s Christmas lights, marking the official start of the festive season in a magical community celebration.
“Light Up Bridgwater shines a spotlight on the young individuals who quietly make life brighter for others, people who truly embody the spirit of Bridgwater,” said a spokesperson for the Bridgwater Town Team. “It’s a privilege to recognise the good work and kindness that often go unseen.”
A judging panel will select the winners from the nominations received.
Entries should be around 200 words, explaining why the nominee deserves to be recognised.
Entries can be submitted via email to [email protected]create new email or delivered in person to the Town Hall reception.
The deadline for submissions is 5.00pm on Monday 10 November.
The Christmas Lights Switch-On will take place during Snowflakes & Shopping on Saturday 22 November, featuring festive entertainment, market stalls, and a squibbing display.
