The Bridgwater Town Deal Grants Panel has approved funding for a range of projects that will bring vibrancy, creativity, and cultural enrichment to Bridgwater throughout 2025.
These projects, part of the Bridgwater Town Deal initiative, are designed to animate the town centre and strengthen community ties.
One of the highlights is the Folk and Blues Festival, a celebration of folk and blues music that will take place across the town on 12–13 April organised by The Cobblestones.
In May, St Mary’s Church will be transformed into a runway for the SL-ATE Fashion Festival, featuring eight designers from international, national, and local backgrounds, in collaboration with Bridgwater & Taunton College.
June will see Eastover Park and Cranleigh Gardens come alive with a Culture Festival Day led by the Mingle Café with partners, showcasing crafts, music, and food from Bridgwater’s diverse communities.
In July, the much-anticipated Super Saturday will return to the heart of Bridgwater, with performances and activities energising the town centre.
This will be complemented by the Sounds of the Streets initiative, bringing live street music to key events like Super Saturday, Circus Day, and the Carnival.
Later in the year, Fuse will light up the town with the Bridgwater Twilight Fire & Illuminations Festival on 10–11 October, featuring fire displays and illuminated performances, drawing visitors to the centre of town and the docks area of Bridgwater.
In addition to these newly funded projects, several previously approved initiatives will also take place in 2025.
These include the Somerset Youth Theatre’s development of a Bridgwater Youth Theatre, culminating in a summer performance in Hamp in August, as well as the Take Art Touring Circuit, which in February will bring performances to venues such as the Mingle Café and St Mary’s Church.
Another exciting is the Farmyard Circus Festival, a family-friendly day of circus performances and a youth community program, scheduled for 19 July.
These projects highlight Bridgwater’s commitment to creating a vibrant, inclusive, and thriving town centre that celebrates its diverse community and cultural heritage.
Jeremy James, Bridgwater Town Deal Outreach and Events Officer said,
“These exciting events will bring energy and creativity to Bridgwater, showcasing local talent, supporting businesses, and fostering a sense of community pride. The Town Deal is delivering on its promise to transform Bridgwater into a hub of culture and activity.”
