Residents invited to discover, enjoy and help care for Bridgwater’s valued green spaces
Bridgwater Town Council is proud to support Love Parks Week 2026, the national campaign organised by Keep Britain Tidy, which takes place from 24 July to 2 August 2026 and celebrates the important role that parks and green spaces play in our communities.
Bridgwater’s parks and open spaces provide a range of facilities for residents of all ages and continue to be an important part of the town’s commitment to health, wellbeing and environmental sustainability.
Parks are at the heart of communities, providing opportunities for exercise, relaxation, social connection and contact with nature. They also play a vital role in supporting wildlife, improving biodiversity and helping communities adapt to climate change.
Councillor Tim Mander, Chair of the Amenities Committee said,
“Love Parks Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the parks and green spaces that are such an important part of everyday life in Bridgwater. From family play areas and community events to quiet spaces for relaxation and reflection, our parks offer something for everyone.
“At Bridgwater Town Council, we are committed to investing in and caring for these much-loved spaces because we know the difference they make to people’s health, wellbeing and sense of community. They provide opportunities to be active, connect with nature, support local wildlife and bring people together throughout the year.
“We’re fortunate to have a network of parks and open spaces across the town that residents can enjoy free of charge, and Love Parks Week is the perfect time to explore somewhere new, take part in an event or simply spend time outdoors appreciating these valuable community assets.”
As part of this year’s celebrations, Blake Gardens will host the popular Tea and Trumpets event on Saturday 25 July from 10.00am to 3.00pm, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy live music in one of the town’s most cherished green spaces.
The celebrations will continue on Saturday 1 August, when Blake Gardens hosts the Cobblestones Takeover, bringing more live entertainment and community activity into the heart of the town and showcasing the many ways Bridgwater’s parks can be enjoyed.
From community events and live entertainment to recreation, relaxation and connecting with nature, these green spaces play an important role in enhancing the quality of life for residents and bringing communities together.
The Council hopes Love Parks Week will encourage people to spend time outdoors, discover somewhere new, reconnect with nature and celebrate the parks and open spaces that help make Bridgwater a greener, healthier and more vibrant place to live.
