Residents who rely on local bus services are being reminded that the latest bus timetables are now available to collect free of charge from Bridgwater Town Council reception area.
While many passengers now access bus information online through www.bustimes.org , there remains a significant number of residents who continue to rely on printed timetables. For some, this is because they do not own a smartphone, have limited access to mobile data or Wi-Fi, or simply prefer having timetable information in a paper format.
In recent weeks, members of the Bridgwater Bus Users Improvement Group have been supporting passengers to access timetable information digitally using the Bus Times website. Residents have been shown how to save the website to their phones and use it to check routes, departure times and service updates, helping them become more confident and independent when using public transport.
However, conversations with local passengers have highlighted the continuing importance of printed timetables for many bus users.
Councillor Tim Mander from Bridgwater Town Councils Transport Forum said,
“Members of Bridgwater’s Bus Users Improvement Group have been encouraging residents to use www.bustimes.org and showing people how easy it can be to access bus information on their phones. The website is an excellent resource and can help passengers quickly find the information they need. However, we recognise that not everyone has access to a smartphone, mobile data, or the confidence to use online services. For many people, a printed timetable remains an essential tool.
We’ve had a lot of requests for paper copies and understand how important they are for regular bus users. Copies are available from the Town Council reception area, and additional timetables will continue to be provided to help ensure residents can access the information they need.”
Bridgwater Town Council, through its Transport Forum, continues to lobby for improved bus services in and around the town and remains optimistic that forthcoming changes to bus franchising will create further opportunities to enhance local public transport services for residents.
Residents can collect a free printed timetable from Bridgwater Town Council reception or visit www.bustimes.org for the latest bus service information online.
