Members of Bridgwater Rotary Club are part of a worldwide network of more than 1.4m volunteers working in 46,000 clubs across more than 200 countries to support worldwide humanitarian projects and their own local communities.
International projects include those aimed at fighting disease, supporting disaster relief, providing clean water and sanitation, supporting education, growing local economies, and protecting the environment. The Bridgwater club, for example, has been active in recent years in raising funds for overseas disaster relief, a medical project in India and a water provision project in Uganda. This year, working with local partners, we also raised significant funds and contributions to send a truck load of medical supplies to Ukraine.
They are particularly active in our own community where we have supported: fun trips for disadvantaged youngsters; youth competitions and events such as young chefs, young musicians and youth leadership awards; local youth sports teams and groups; and community events such as carnival, the fair, the fireworks display and the quayside festival. They also have their own social activities, meetings and trips and have a strong partnership with a Rotary Club in Germany, with whom they have regular exchanges.
