Super Saturday comes to Bridgwater on 20 July, showcasing the best of Somerset talent, in the middle of the town centre. This will include circus, dance, theatre and loads of live music.
The event will take place on Cornhill, The High Street, Fore Street, in St Mary’s Church, and will be echoing events that happen elsewhere in the county.
Pirates of the Carabena will be bringing their Pirate Taxi along on the day, to mesmerise audiences with their acrobatic and arial circus skills, outside Greenslade Taylor Hunt and BOS Cafe.
Tall Tails Theatre Company will be walking around the town centre with their performances of The Adventures of Madame Carousel and Mr Popsy, as will Tongues of Fire – nine incredible local musicians.
An amazing array of local Bridgy musical talent will be on display on the solar powered Platform Stage all afternoon, supported and programmed by Seed Sedgemoor. And last but not least, don’t miss aKa Dance Theatre and Farm Yard Circus. who will be performing in St Mary’s Church and on Fore Street respectively.
The events grant, funded with investment from UK Government (released in May 2023) has enabled this afternoon of fun times to take place. The organiser Sarah Setter, from Lost Lady Society said “we are extremely grateful for Bridgwater Town Deal/Council for creating this opportunity for so many local cultural professionals across the county and artistic genres. Fingers crossed for the weather!”
R Lambert, co-chair of the grant decision panel, said “The panel felt it was important that funding brought exciting large-scale events to Bridgwater. We saw some exceptional applications that will bring residents / visitors into town and much needed footfall.”
Grants are still available from £500 up to £10,000 to support organisations in their delivery of new events and activities that will re-energise Bridgwater.
