No Mow May at Quantock Road and Bristol Road Cemetery!
This year we are taking part in no mow May. At Bristol Road Cemetery in certain areas we are leaving the grass to grow long during the month of May. Not mowing for one month can result in enough nectar for 10 times more bees!
At Quantock Road Cemetery we are leaving the grass to grow long during the spring and summer. This will encourage wildflowers which will provide food for pollinators such as bees. Even in areas without many flowers, a strip of long grass alongside a hedge or around a tree’s is a source of food and shelter for birds, insects and small animals.
These sites will be cut at the end of the season.
Why don’t you try this in your garden?
