Bridgwater Town Council have created an exciting new role that will have an immediate positive visual impact within the town, with a job title of Town Rangers. The role will involve completing a range of grounds maintenance and cleansing activities across Bridgwater including planting enhancements, litter picking, removal of litter across the town and some maintenance of public realm furniture and keeping footpaths and public rights of way clear.
Bridgwater Town Council received numerous complaints over the last 12 months’ with overgrown footpaths, litter on footpaths and communal areas, and dirty benches, public information signs and bins. Councillors wanted to take positive and proactive action and therefore created two roles to start tackling these issues.
Equipment and the van they will use, will be fully electric in line with the Town Council’s ambition to become greener and reduce our carbon footprint. The town council will launch from April 2023 a reporting system to enable the Bridgwater residents and businesses to report issues within the remit of these roles directly to the Town Council.
