Bridgwater residents are being invited to roll up their sleeves and take part in this year’s Great British Spring Clean, the nationwide campaign led by Keep Britain Tidy that encourages communities to tackle litter and show pride in their local areas.
The campaign, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, runs from 13 to 29 March 2026 and encourages communities across the UK to pledge to pick up litter and show pride in where they live.
On Saturday 21 March 2026, communities across Bridgwater will come together for a series of simultaneous neighbourhood litter picks running from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to take part, with equipment provided for anyone who wishes to get involved.
Clean-up locations taking part across the town include:
- Victoria Park
- Hamp
- Bower
- Sydenham
- Wilstock
- Kingsdown
Bridgwater Town Council is proud to support and promote the network of community-led litter picks taking place during this year’s campaign. Working in partnership with organisations including Victoria Park Community Centre, Wilstock Hub, Abri, LiveWest, Stonewater and Homes in Somerset, the Council aims to encourage local residents to come together to keep their neighbourhoods clean, safe and welcoming for all.
Council staff will be directly involved in the Hamp clean-up, while the other events are organised and delivered by local volunteers and community groups. These community efforts play a key role in keeping Bridgwater’s neighbourhoods clean and welcoming for everyone.
Following the morning clean-ups, volunteers are invited to gather between 12.30pm and 1.30pm at local meeting points for refreshments, a chat and a well-earned rest.
Children who take part will also receive a certificate of appreciation to recognise their efforts.
Councillor Kathy Pearce said,
“The Great British Spring Clean is a fantastic chance for communities to come together and show pride in where they live.
“We’re grateful to the local volunteers and community groups leading litter picks across Bridgwater, their efforts make a real difference. Everyone is welcome to get involved and help make our town cleaner and more welcoming. And of course, the best way to keep our streets tidy is to use a bin or take your litter home.”
The newly formed Blake Gardens Community Group will also be hosting a Spring Clean in Blake Gardens on Tuesday 24 March, from 10.00am to 11.00am. Everyone is welcome to join; it’s a great chance to help tidy the park and to learn more about the group’s plans for the future.
The group meets regularly to share ideas, plan improvements and take part in practical projects. From community days and heritage tasks to planting and biodiversity initiatives, the group is working towards the goal of securing Green Flag status for Blake Gardens, helping to make the park an even greener and more welcoming space for the community.
Community litter picks can also be organised at any time of year, with the council able to provide equipment and collect any rubbish gathered.

The Great British Spring Clean remains one of the UK’s biggest environmental community campaigns, and Bridgwater is proud to play its part in keeping the town clean, green and welcoming for everyone.
