Residents and visitors to Bridgwater can enjoy a splash of winter colour following the replanting of a number of prominent planters with seasonal bedding plants.
The cauldron planters in King Square have been refreshed with a vibrant display of winter bedding, including colourful violas.
Along the riverside at West Quay, the winter planting scheme includes a carefully selected mix of violas, lavender and heuchera, creating an attractive environment for residents, visitors and businesses alike.
The plants have been chosen not only for their visual appeal and seasonal interest but also for their environmental benefits. Species such as lavender provide an important source of nectar for pollinators, while the varied planting helps support biodiversity within Bridgwater’s urban landscape.
By incorporating wildlife-friendly planting into public spaces, the initiative aims to create habitats and food sources for insects and other wildlife, helping nature thrive in the heart of the town.
Tim Mander, Chair of the Amenities Committee said,
“These seasonal displays help keep Bridgwater looking colourful and vibrant during the winter months. By carefully selecting plants that provide year-round interest and benefits for wildlife, we are creating greener, more attractive public spaces that everyone can enjoy.”
The refreshed planters form part of ongoing efforts to enhance the town’s street scene, helping to create a welcoming environment for both people and wildlife throughout the year.
