Super Saturday returns to Bridgwater on 5 July – a vibrant, free celebration of Somerset’s creativity.
Jeremy James, Events and Outreach Officer said,
“It’s great to be working with Lost Lady Society to bring Super Saturday to Bridgwater for another year. It’s all about animating the town centre – filling the streets with life, colour, and creativity, and giving people a reason to come together – and we’re hoping the weather will be a little kinder to us this time around!”
From daring circus acts to live music, immersive theatre to historical re-enactments, this day-long festival offers fun and entertainment for all ages. The town will transform into a stage, with performances and activities unfolding across The Cornhill, Fore Street, St Mary’s Church, and Blake Gardens.
Whether you are a local or a visitor, it’s the perfect day to soak up the atmosphere.
Prepare to be amazed by Pirates of the Carabena, a jaw-dropping circus spectacle performed in, on, and around a vintage London taxi! This gravity-defying show, from the internationally acclaimed creators of FLOWN and HOME, combines aerial stunts, acrobatics, and comedy in a one-of-a-kind outdoor performance.
Roaming the streets will be the wonderfully quirky Tall Tails Theatre Company, bringing The Adventures of Madame Carousel and Mr Popsy to life through interactive storytelling that will delight audiences of all ages.
Also don’t miss Bluebird Theatre’s enchanting The Popera House – a joyful reimagining of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, blending puppetry, music, and magic into a family-friendly spectacle.
Feel the rhythm with Tongues of Fire, a collective of nine talented local musicians filling the air with infectious energy and soulful sound.
Step inside St Mary’s Church for an engaging workshop by Tall Tails Theatre, experience nature like never before with cutting-edge NASA-inspired Plant Choir technology transforming plant signals into live music, followed by moving performances by Grace & Growl, a dynamic dance company of mature performers.
This year marks the 340th anniversary of the Battle of Sedgemoor – the final pitched battle fought on English soil, which took place just outside Bridgwater on 6 July 1685 during the Monmouth Rebellion.
To commemorate this important local and national event, Blake Gardens will host a Battle of Sedgemoor Encampment, brought to life by the Wardour Garrison – a Seventeenth-Century Living History Society.
Step back in time as you explore the sights, sounds, and skills of 17th-century life. Witness live demonstrations, crafts and activities that bring history to life.
Join us for Super Saturday – a full day of music, imagination, and history in the heart of Bridgwater.
