With a mix of history, live music, and family-friendly fun, Blake Garden will be buzzing with activity this August. Hosted by Bridgwater Town Council, the summer programme has been thoughtfully curated to offer something for everyone.
Kicking off the month in style on Saturday 2 August, The Cobblestones Takeover returns—bigger and better than ever—as it celebrates 50 years of the Cobblestones venue.
Expect a fun filled day with live music, street food, market stalls, classic cars, and a wide range of family-friendly entertainment.
On Saturday 16 August, the pace slows for Tea and Trumpets—a relaxed afternoon of classical brass music, perfect for unwinding in the summer sun.
Step back in time on 23 August and witness history come to life. Join The Ermine Street Guard, one of the UK’s leading Roman re-enactment groups, as they bring the ancient world of Roman Britain vividly into the present.
Explore the life of a Roman soldier through authentic displays and demonstrations. Then, feel the clash of steel as the Somerset Barons take the stage with thrilling, full-contact medieval combat displays — a true spectacle of medieval martial arts. A must-see event for history enthusiasts and curious minds of all ages.
The final event of the summer is the Big Community Picnic on Monday 25 August. Bring a blanket, gather your friends and family, enjoy live entertainment and make memories in one of Bridgwater Town Council’s principal parks.
All events are free to attend, and refreshments will be available to purchase thanks to the volunteers from Blake Museum.
You’re also welcome to bring your own picnic, chairs, or blankets to make the most of these summer events.
