The Showmen’s Guild has once again demonstrated its strong community spirit by donating £200 to the Mayor of Bridgwater’s Charity for 2025. This year, Cllr Kathy Pearce, the current Mayor of Bridgwater, has selected the Bridgwater Men’s Shed as her chosen charity.
The generous donation was made during this year’s Bridgwater Fair, one of the town’s oldest and most cherished traditions. The contribution continues the Guild’s long-standing commitment to supporting local causes and giving back to the communities that host their events each year.
Cllr Kathy Pearce, Mayor of Bridgwater, presented the cheque to representatives of the Men’s Shed. She said,
“This generous donation from the Showmen’s Guild will be put to great use. The Bridgwater Men’s Shed does fantastic work bringing people together, combating isolation, and encouraging skill-sharing within our community.”
The Bridgwater Men’s Shed provides a safe, friendly, and inclusive environment where people can come together to work on practical projects, share skills, and enjoy companionship.
By promoting a sense of purpose and community, the Shed helps to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing across Bridgwater and the surrounding area.
The Shed welcomes people of all backgrounds and skill levels. Whether it’s woodwork, repairs, community projects, or simply a chat over a cup of tea, members are encouraged to participate at their own pace and in their own way.
The Bridgwater Men’s Shed is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10am to 3pm (excluding Bank Holidays) at The Canal Workshop, Canal View, Old Taunton Road, Bridgwater TA6 3NS.
