The future priorities for the Bridgwater South Pride in Place Community Plan are beginning to take shape, with local people playing a central role in shaping the programme’s direction.
Feedback gathered through the ongoing Pride in Place survey and a range of community engagement activities is helping to identify what matters most to residents, businesses and community organisations. The insights shared so far are informing discussions and ensuring that the emerging Community Plan reflects the aspirations, challenges and opportunities identified by local people.
At a recent Board meeting and workshop session on 17 September, Board members reviewed feedback received to date and explored how it can help shape a long-term vision for the area. Discussions focused on understanding community priorities and identifying opportunities to deliver meaningful improvements that will make a positive difference to people’s lives.
As part of the workshop, Board members considered a number of key questions that will help guide the development of the Community Plan:
- What will the neighbourhood look and feel like in the future?
- How will life be different for local people?
- What will success look like for the community?
The session generated a range of ideas and reinforced a shared commitment to ensuring local people remain at the heart of decision-making as the programme develops.
Residents are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming community workshops to meet the Chair and members of the Neighbourhood Board, learn more about the Pride in Place programme and share their views on the emerging Community Plan. These sessions will provide an opportunity for local people to help shape priorities and influence future projects and investment in the area.
Workshops will take place on:
- 5 October at The YMCA, The George Williams Centre, Friarn Avenue, Bridgwater TA6 3RF, from 5.00pm to 7.00pm
- 6 October at The ReCreation Community Hub, Rhode Lane, TA6 6HZ, from 1.00pm to 3.00pm
- 7 October at Westfield Church, West Street, TA6 7EU, from 10.00am to 12.00 noon
The Board will continue to work closely with residents, businesses and community organisations over the coming months to ensure the Community Plan reflects local priorities and delivers meaningful, lasting benefits for the neighbourhood.
The Pride in Place programme is built on the principle that lasting change happens when local people are involved in shaping the future of their community. By bringing people together to identify priorities, develop ideas and create solutions, the programme aims to strengthen community pride, improve opportunities and support positive change that reflects the needs and ambitions of local residents.
