Visitors to Eastover will notice a welcome addition with new planters and seating installed. The new street furniture was selected following feedback and suggestions from local businesses and residents.
The planters have been planted with a carefully selected mix of trees, pollinator-friendly plants and perennial species, providing year-round colour and interest while supporting biodiversity and creating valuable habitat and food sources for wildlife in the town centre. As the trees mature, they will also help create shaded areas during the warmer months.
The new seating includes cantilever-style benches and the positioning of the planters has also been carefully considered to help discourage unauthorised parking.
Councillor Tim Mander, Chair of the Amenities Committee said,
“These new installations have been shaped by feedback from local businesses and residents following a consultation undertaken by the Town Council helping to ensure the improvements reflect the needs of the community.
“The planting has been carefully chosen to provide colour throughout the seasons, support pollinators and enhance biodiversity, helping to create a greener and more attractive town centre.
“At the same time, the layout helps address concerns around unauthorised parking, creating a safer, more welcoming environment for residents, businesses and visitors alike.”
