Visitors to Blake Gardens will now be able to enjoy the bandstand in a new light, thanks to the installation of new decorative lighting.
The lights are programmed to switch on automatically at dusk and turn off at dawn, with timings adjusting throughout the year to reflect the changing seasons. This ensures the bandstand remains illuminated when needed while operating efficiently.
The lighting is fully electric and has been designed with durability in mind. The bulbs are made from robust plastic rather than glass, making them far less likely to break if struck by stones, footballs or other objects.
Councillor Tim Mander, Chair of Bridgwater Town Councils Amenities Committee said,
“The bandstand is a much-loved feature of Blake Gardens and these new lights will help showcase it throughout the year. The automatic dusk-to-dawn system means the display will adapt naturally with the seasons, while the durable design ensures it can be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.”
The new installation will help enhance the appearance of the bandstand during the evening hours while providing a practical, low-maintenance lighting solution for the popular community space.
The project has been welcomed by the Blake Gardens Community Group, who have been supportive of the improvements and share the aim of enhancing one of Bridgwater’s most treasured green spaces for residents and visitors alike.
Blake Gardens Community Group work alongside the Town Council to support and enhance the gardens through community projects, events and practical improvements.
