Bridgwater Town Council is pleased to announce a traditional May Celebration Fête taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, 26 May, from 11.00am to 3.00pm in Blake Gardens.
This free family-friendly event offers something for everyone, featuring traditional Maypole dancing, live entertainment, face painting, and refreshments.
We warmly invite local charities and community groups to take part. If you would like to host a stall, we are offering free 3×3 metre spaces—ideal for showcasing your organisation or running an engaging activity.
Stallholders must bring their own table, and we strongly recommend bringing a gazebo for weather cover. Please note that public liability insurance is required.
Spaces are limited. We already have confirmed vendors for hot food, a bouncy castle, cake stall, and face painting, so we are especially keen to hear from those offering something new and unique to keep the event varied.
We are also inviting local performers to appear either on the bandstand or on the grass in Blake Gardens. We welcome a range of performances, including dance groups, singers, musicians, entertainers, and sports demonstrations.
If your community group or club is interested in performing, please contact us via email.
As a special feature of the day, community groups will also have the opportunity to take part in Maypole dancing, led by two experienced dancers—an unforgettable way to join in this classic English tradition.
