Families are being welcomed back to Mansfield Park as the popular play area reopens following the successful completion of essential works and safety checks.
Following two thorough inspections, one independent and one in-house, the Mansfield Park play area is now open and ready for families to enjoy!
Thanks to the hard work of Kompan and Somerset Landscapes, the community can enjoy the new and improved space.
“We’re thrilled to reopen this facility in time for the school holidays,” said Cllr Tim Mander, Chair of the Amenities Committee. “A big thank you to everyone involved.
“The mound area is fenced off to allow the grass to establish and the Multi-use games area (MUGA) will be finished in January, but there’s plenty to enjoy right now.”
The MUGA is scheduled for completion in January, once conditions allow for the final surfacing to be laid.
Additional improvements including new bins, benches, fencing and pathways will also be installed in the new year, ensuring Mansfield Park is fully equipped for the community to enjoy for years to come.
This project has been made possible thanks to funding from the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Community Fund, managed by Somerset Community Foundation.
The Hamp Community Association (HCA) also pledged financial support specifically for the MUGA and new play equipment, demonstrating strong community backing for this initiative.
