Residents are being invited to celebrate a week of creativity at ReCreation Community Hub’s Community Art Exhibition and Mural Reveal Event on Saturday 8 August, from 11.30am to 2.00pm.
The event marks the culmination of Hamp Art Week, which has seen local people of all ages take part in a range of creative activities, including helping commissioned graffiti artist Charley McFarley create a series of vibrant new community murals that will become a lasting feature of the neighbourhood.
Throughout the week, participants have worked alongside Charley to contribute to the mural project, while also designing and spray-painting their own canvas artwork and creating personalised T-shirts to take home.
Alongside the mural project, ReCreation Community Hub’s popular Creative Clay sessions have been exploring Bridgwater’s rich industrial heritage, with participants creating clay tiles and small pots inspired by the area’s history, helping to connect creativity with local identity.
The project has brought together residents of all ages to learn new skills, build confidence and celebrate the community through art.
Cllr Liz Leavy, Chair of the Communties & Cultural Committee said,
“It’s been fantastic to see so many people getting involved throughout Hamp Art Week. The creativity, enthusiasm and community spirit on display have been incredible. These murals and artworks reflect the talent, pride and imagination that exist within our community, and we’re looking forward to sharing them with everyone at the exhibition and mural reveal on Saturday 8 August.”
At the Community Art Exhibition and Mural Reveal Event on Saturday 8 August, visitors will have the chance to view all of the artwork created during Hamp Art Week and witness the unveiling of the new community murals for the first time.
The free family-friendly event will also include a complimentary hog roast, free ice cream, face painting and children’s entertainment.

The Community Art Exhibition and Mural Reveal Event takes place on Saturday 8 August from 11.30am to 2.00pm at ReCreation Community Hub, and organisers are encouraging local residents to come along and see first-hand the creativity that has flourished across Hamp Art Week.
