Residents across Bridgwater are being encouraged to discover the wide range of activities, support services and opportunities available at Recreation Community Hub in Hamp and Parkway Hub in Sydenham.
Run by Bridgwater Town Council, the community hubs are welcoming spaces at the heart of their neighbourhoods, providing opportunities for residents of all ages to connect with others, access local support and take part in a variety of activities close to home.
Whether you’re looking to meet new people, enjoy family activities, learn new skills, access practical support or simply spend time in a friendly environment, the hubs offer something for everyone.
At Recreation Community Hub, residents can join the weekly Community Drop-In every Tuesday from 10am to 12 noon. Visitors can enjoy a hot drink, meet local people, take part in arts and crafts, play games or receive basic IT support. Parkway Hub hosts its own Community Drop-In every Friday from 10am to 12 noon, offering the same warm welcome alongside refreshments, activities and digital support.
Throughout the week, the hubs are home to a wide range of activities and services. Recreation Community Hub hosts an Over 55s Club every Friday, while families with young children can enjoy the popular Tots Group. Residents can also access Health Visitor sessions, the Local Pantry, Somerset Youth Theatre activities, SASP Kickstart programmes and Thrive Welcome Hub support services. Recreation Community Hub is also home to the Baby Bank, providing practical support to local families through access to essential baby and children’s items.
There is also plenty to look forward to during the October half-term holidays, with a Lego Day on 26 October and a Disney Craft Day on 27 October giving children and families the chance to get creative and have fun together.
Both community hubs are available to hire, providing flexible and affordable spaces for local groups, organisations, classes, activities and events.
Councillor Liz Leavy, Chair of the Communities and Cultural Committee said,
“Our community hubs are here for everyone. Whether you’re looking to make new friends, access support, enjoy activities with your children, build confidence with digital skills or simply share a conversation over a cup of tea, you’ll always find a warm welcome. These spaces are at the heart of our neighbourhoods and play an important role in bringing people together.”
If you’ve never visited before, now is the perfect time to discover what your local community hub has to offer. Pop along to a drop-in session, meet the team, find out about upcoming activities and see how Bridgwater Town Council’s community hubs are helping people connect, access support and build stronger communities.
