Bridgwater Town Council regret to announce that the Big Community Picnic, due to take place on Saturday 30 August from 12.00 midday to 3.00pm in Blake Gardens, has been cancelled due to the forecast of poor weather.
This decision, though difficult, was made to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all attendees, as the event was planned to take place outdoors. The Council recognises that many in the community were looking forward to what would have been the final summer event in Blake Gardens.
Cllr Liz Marsh, Chair of the Events Committee, said, “We know how much the community values events like the Big Community Picnic and cancelling is never easy. We are very grateful to everyone who helped with the planning, the groups who wanted to be involved and the volunteers who offered their time to help on the day as well as to all those who were looking forward to joining us.
“We are now exploring opportunities to be able to bring the community together again at future events and will be back soon with further information on those.”
The Council thanks all volunteers, supporters, and residents whose enthusiasm and community spirit make Bridgwater such a vibrant and welcoming place
