Despite the work of our Street Cleansing Operatives to keep Bridgwater clean, litter continues to be a persistent issue, and community initiatives are always appreciated to support this ongoing effort.
A recent community litter pick in Bower on Saturday 17 May, led by Fairfax East Ward Councillors Diogo Rodrigues and Carole Edmunds, saw an enthusiastic turnout from local residents, including children, staff from Casa Di Lusso Care Home, and even one of the care home’s residents, Mike joined in.
Krizza Salomeo, Activities Coordinator at Casa Di Lusso, praised the event,
“We were really pleased to support our local area and connect with people in the community. One of our residents, Mike, also had a great time. We’re looking forward to doing more in the future.”
Councillor Carole Edmunds added,
“What a great team of Litter Pickers! Thank you ALL for helping our Bower community. With your enthusiasm for tidying footpaths and open spaces, we filled 10 bags! An amazing effort.”
Community litter picks are about more than just collecting litter; they build a sense of community and remind us of the positive impact we can make collectively.
For those inspired by this event, litter picking packs can be borrowed from the Town Council.
The Equipment packs contain litter pickers, hoops, hi-vis vests and bin bags as well as health and safety guidance.
Residents, communities and organisations interested in borrowing a pack should request the equipment in advance by emailing [email protected] .
Packs can then be collected from Bridgwater Town Hall, High Street, TA6 3AS.
Hosting your own event is a simple and rewarding way to contribute to the town’s cleanliness.
