Residents are being invited to play a part in shaping the future of public art in Hamp and to join a week-long celebration of creativity and self-expression this summer.
The Recreation Community Hub will host a Community Consultation on Friday 24 July, giving local people the opportunity to share their ideas and help influence future mural projects across the area.
Taking place from 10.30am to 2.00pm, the consultation will be centred around the theme “For the Community, By the Community”, ensuring that local voices are at the heart of the creative process. You will be able to meet the artist, take part in arts and have a go at spray painting.
Organisers are keen to hear residents’ ideas, gather feedback and involve the community in developing artwork that reflects the character, history and aspirations of Hamp.
The consultation will act as a precursor to Hamp Art Week, which takes place at the Recreation Community Hub from 3 to 8 August.
The exciting week-long programme will bring people together through a range of art workshops, creative activities and community-led projects designed to inspire participation and celebrate local talent. The week will culminate in the unveiling of new artwork and a special gallery exhibition showcasing pieces created throughout the programme on Saturday 8 August. The official reveal and community celebration will be supported by Hamp Community Association, which has generously funded the event catering.
One of the highlights of Hamp Art Week will be a series of sessions led by renowned graffiti artist Charley McFarley, who will work alongside participants to create vibrant and inspiring artwork for the community. Through hands-on activities, residents will have the opportunity to learn new techniques, contribute to collaborative projects and explore their own creativity.
Sessions taking place on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday will be open to all, providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved but spaces must be booked in advance as places are limited.

Organisers hope the events will encourage residents to connect with neighbours, share ideas and celebrate the creativity that helps make HAMP such a vibrant and welcoming community.
