Join the Royal British Legion in King Square on Thursday, 8 May at 11.00am for a special commemoration service honouring the wartime generation who fought to defend the freedoms we enjoy today.
The celebrations continue on Saturday, 10 May, with a community event in Blake Gardens from 11.00am to 4.00pm. Hosted by Bridgwater Blake Museum, in partnership with the Royal British Legion and SedgemoorFM, the day will commemorate 80 years since Victory in Europe Day—the historic moment that marked the end of World War II in Europe.
The event will feature a variety of activities, including refreshments and stalls in Blake Gardens and music that captures the essence of the 1940s.
Additionally, there will be an 80th Anniversary exhibition in the museum, showcasing events that took place in Bridgwater.
This exhibition will run from Wednesday, 7 May to Saturday, 17 May, with the possibility of extension if it proves popular.
Come along, reflect, and celebrate a defining moment in our shared history.
