Bridgwater is set to shine this Saturday 22 November, as the town comes together for its much-loved Snowflakes and Shopping celebration. The event begins during the day with festive stalls and entertainment throughout the town centre and concludes in true Bridgwater style with Squibbing on Town Bridge.
This year’s Christmas lights switch-on will be extra special, with the Mayor of Bridgwater joined by a group of remarkable young people who have made a real difference in the community.
Local residents were invited to nominate inspirational young individuals and the response was overwhelming.
The nominees were:
- Lilly – recognised for her incredible fundraising efforts for the foodbank
- Ella – a shining star who spreads joy with her singing
- Alura Rose and Willow – celebrated for their dedication to volunteering
- Crystal – a considerate young leader who lends her support to the Scouts
- Harvey – an inspirational young man who has shown exceptional courage following his cancer diagnosis
Although every nominee is truly deserving, the number of heartfelt nominations for Harvey means he has been chosen by the Bridgwater Town Team to join the Mayor in switching on this year’s Christmas lights.
Before the big moment, all nominees will take part in the Father Christmas procession, beginning at 5.45pm from St Mary’s Church.
Each nominee will receive a special gift, thanks to the Bridgwater Town Team.
The Bridgwater Town Team is a partnership group made up of Bridgwater Town Council, the Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, retailers and community organisations, all working together to support and promote Bridgwater’s town centre.
