With less than month until Playday 2026 returns to St Matthews Field, families can look forward to a day packed with fun.
On Wednesday 5 August, everyone is invited to join the fun at St Matthew’s Field from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
With a huge variety of free activities and entertainment on offer, Playday 2026 promises something for everyone.
Younger children can enjoy circus skills workshops, inflatables, craft activities including bracelet making, and giant garden games such as Jenga and Connect 4.
Older children and adventurous visitors can put their abilities to the test on the climbing wall (please note: open-toe shoes are not permitted for climbing), tackle the assault course, or take part in activities including football and kickboxing.
Music lovers can visit the Music Tent, hosted by Sound of the Streets, where they can try a range of instruments and join in the fun. Somerset Youth Theatre will also be delivering exciting music and drama activities.
Live entertainers and magicians will be on hand to deliver laughs and surprises throughout the day. Families can also experience animal encounters, including the chance to get up close with birds of prey. Fairground rides will also be available throughout the day.
Thanks to the support of Bridgwater Town Council, the HPC Community Fund and Co-op Funeral Care, Playday 2026 will once again be free to attend, ensuring that local families can enjoy a fantastic day out at no cost.
Parking is available on-site for just £1 per car. Bridgwater Rotary Club has kindly volunteered to manage parking and will accept payment by cash or card.
Visitors are encouraged to support the future of the event through voluntary donations. Donation boxes and QR codes will be available at activity stations throughout the site, with every contribution helping to fund Playday 2027.
To help keep children safe, all children attending must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Free wristbands will be available for children to wear, allowing parents or carers to add a contact number to assist with quick reunion should anyone become separated during the event.
Don’t forget your sunscreen, sun hats (or wet-weather gear!), and plenty of water – it’s sure to be an action-packed day! Hot and cold refreshments will be available to purchase on site, or visitors are welcome to bring a picnic.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times, and owners are asked to clean up after their pets. If the weather is particularly hot, please consider leaving dogs at home to keep them cool and comfortable.
