Bridgwater Town Council is proud to mark Volunteers’ Week 2025 by offering thanks to the countless volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to supporting the local community.
Running from 2 – 8 June, Volunteers’ Week is a UK-wide celebration of volunteering that recognises the valuable contribution volunteers make across all sectors of society. In Bridgwater, this spirit of giving is alive and well, with individuals and groups making a real difference every day.
The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering. Volunteers’ Week gives everyone the chance to celebrate volunteers’ efforts and all they contribute to Bridgwater’s communities.
Cllr Brian Smedley, Leader of Bridgwater Town Council, said:
” Volunteers are the backbone of our community. Whether they’re helping out at the South Bridgwater Pantry, supporting at the ReCreation Community Hub, Blake Museum, or Bridgwater Arts Centre – their impact is everywhere.
“From running local projects to organising community events and litter picks, their commitment helps make Bridgwater a better place for everyone. We are incredibly grateful to them.”
Rob Semple, Director of Communities at Bridgwater Town council added,
“Volunteering brings people together. It builds confidence, skills, friendships, and stronger neighbourhoods. We see first-hand the positive impact volunteers make across Bridgwater, and we are committed to supporting and celebrating them – not just during Volunteers Week, but all year round.”
The Council is encouraging residents to take a moment this week to say thank you to the volunteers in their lives, and to consider getting involved in local initiatives themselves.
Bridgwater Town Council invites community members to explore various volunteering opportunities at Blake Museum, Bridgwater Arts Centre, ReCreation, and South Bridgwater Pantry. Volunteers can also assist at free community events organised by the council.
