Bridgwater Town Council is gearing up to take part in this year’s Great British Spring Clean, the nationwide community-led initiative to tackle litter and improve local spaces. The event, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, runs from 21 March to 6 April across the country.
As part of this campaign, on Saturday, 5 April, Bridgwater Town Council will be hosting community litter picks across several areas, encouraging residents to come together and make a difference in their neighbourhoods. The designated clean-up areas include:
- Hamp
- Sydenham
- Bower
- Victoria
- Westover
- The canal from Victoria to Somerset Bridge
Local community groups, families, and individuals are warmly invited to get involved. The litter picks will take place simultaneously across the town from 10.00am until 12.00pm in a united effort to keep Bridgwater clean and green.
Following the clean-up, volunteers will have the opportunity to gather at a designated community space to enjoy a cuppa, a chat, and celebrate their hard work.
Children who participate will also receive a certificate of appreciation for their efforts.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and take pride in our town,” said Councillor Kathy Pearce, “We welcome everyone to join us and make a real impact on our local environment, of course, it would be even better if litter wasn’t dropped in the first place, so please be responsible and find a bin or take your litter home!”
