Following the exhibition of Luke Jerram’s Fallen Moon in the Bridgwater Docks, which attracted numerous visitors to Bridgwater, we are pleased to continue our close working relationship with Luke and his team and are excited to announce a new project with the renowned artist.
Luke Jerram’s “Gaia” will be in residence at Bridgwater Town Hall from 3 November 2025 for three weeks.
Gaia is a seven-metre diameter replica of Earth, created using detailed NASA imagery of the planet’s surface by UK artist Luke Jerram.
The artwork aims to evoke the “Overview Effect,” a phenomenon experienced by astronauts who view Earth from space, often resulting in a profound sense of awe and a deeper understanding of the planet’s fragility and interconnectedness.

“I am delighted to hear we are continuing to collaborate with Luke Jerram. The ‘Fallen Moon’ project exceeded expectations for the Docks area. Families flocked to the event discovering the area as well as the project.
“The work with local schools also reaped dividends, so now to have ‘Gaia’ another one of Luke’s works in the Town Hall will be an added bonus for the town. We look forward to welcoming both residents and visitors to experience this extraordinary artwork.”

This installation is part of Bridgwater Town Council’s ongoing commitment to bring engaging cultural experiences to Bridgwater and will also mark the launch of the newly refurbished Town Hall Theatre, where visitors will get to see the improvements alongside this stunning artwork.
