This October, families in Bridgwater will be able to have a great day out with this augmented reality story trail.
Sedgemoor District Council and Bridgwater Town Team have teamed up with High Street Safari to run a special, free trail in Bridgwater town centre from 19th to 31st October.
Totally Spooking Out! is located at ten stops around the Bridgwater town centre, positioned so that families can discover hidden parts of the town.
Families will be guided on their trip by The Luminauts, a team of superheroes, on an adventure as they find the spooky characters that can be seen using augmented reality (AR).
This innovative experience lets family choose what happens in the story as they go around and enables anyone with a smartphone to take part.
The trail works without the need for families to download or sign up to anything and works on any smart device.
Players not only hunt down Halloween masks along the route, like witches, mummies and ghouls, but they can also try them on digitally and take selfies. At each stop players can then see the full characters from the masks, burst to life in AR.
This event is to encourage families to come into Bridgwater town centre with a free, exciting event that gets kids out of the house, do some walking and get rewarded at the end.
The trail takes about forty-five minutes to complete but can be completed in more than one visit. It’s completely free for families and groups to take part in and they win a free, digital fun pack at the end.
While it has been designed so that there is no need to go inside the venues, some participating businesses might be offering discounts and vouchers to come in while you visit. The starting point is the Town Hall Theatre.
