On Playday thousands of children and families get out to play at hundreds of community events across the UK.
Bridgwater Playday takes place in St Matthews Field on Wednesday 30 July between 10.00am and 3.00pm
This is a free event for families and children, packed with fun activities, games, and entertainment.
This event is made possible thanks to community funding and generous donations.

Children’s Safety
Please note that children must be supervised by adults at all times when visiting Bridgwater playday at St Matthews Field
Lost Children
The Playday staff will be issuing wristbands for children to wear with their responsible person’s phone number to be reunited quickly.
They will be stationed in the middle of the field at the Lost Child Point within the Bridgwater Town Council gazebo (look for their banners and feather flags).
Please make yourself and children familiar with this area and ask a member of staff or an activity holder if you need help.
First Aid
There is First Aid available at the ambulance which is located within the middle of the field next to Bridgwater Town Council’s gazebo and Sedgemoor FM.
Dogs
Responsible dog owners are welcome, but dogs must be kept on leads at all times and their litter picked up. Dogs should not be left in cars at any time.
Event Seating
Please be aware that some pathways and grass areas within the field may be uneven.
Check temporary seating and benches are on even ground before sitting.
Queues
Please expect queues at some of the more popular attractions e.g. climbing wall. We will endeavour to keep these to a minimum where possible but please take the opportunity to enjoy all the activities on offer. Queues will close at 2.30pm.
Personal Safety
For your safety, do not leave property unattended or unsecured. Make sure cars are locked at all times. Vehicles left in the car parks are left at the owner’s own risk.
Fire Action and Prevention
In the event of a fire or other emergency/incident, please dial 999 and/or seek help from staff at Lost Child Point.
Parking
The £1 parking charge is for the safe management of car parking and pedestrians and NOT for making money.
Proceeds will be split between Bridgwater
Rotary Club (50%) and Bridgwater Playday for 2026 (50%).
Donations would be gratefully received at the event to help ensure Playday continues for years to come.
Donation boxes and QR codes will be sited at each activity for cash or card donations.
Vehicle Movement
There will be vehicle movement within the field at all times, for example grounds maintenance machinery, event vehicles etc.
A strict 5mph speed limit is enforced for car parks and for other vehicle access. Please remain aware of these vehicles should they be in operation.
Photographs
Photographs will be taken throughout the day for publicity purposes. Please let the photographer know if you would prefer your child’s photograph not to be taken.
