Caretaker and Maintenance Operative. This is a permanent, full-time contract.
Grade: NJC SCP 4 (£18,426) plus annual pay rise as awarded by the NJC and Local Government Pension Scheme from 1 April 2020
Hours of Work: 37 per week – including some weekend work; and possible work on Bank Holidays
Leave Entitlement: 21 days’ pro rata per annum, two statutory days, plus pro rata public holidays

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Caretaker and Maintenance Operative to join our team. The main purpose of your role will be ensuring that our premises are maintained, ready for hirers and secure in accordance with policies and procedures.

Bridgwater Town Council is responsible for the Town Hall (Theatre, meeting rooms and offices) and will be the primary place for your work and other premises in the town, such as, Blake Museum, Trinity Hall, Arts Centre and the buildings at Quantock Road Cemetery will require your attention at times in relation to maintenance.
Due to the nature of the Caretaker role this will involve some working in the evenings and weekends.
You will need to be comfortable working on your own initiative and will be responsible for monitoring and recording checks that relate to fire safety. A knowledge of Health and Safety and an ability to undertake DIY is essential. A full clean driving licence is required and access to a Council owned vehicle will be provided from March 2020.
Bridgwater Town Council branded uniform and suitable Personal Protective Equipment will be directly supplied by the Council and be worn when on duty.
